(ABC 6 News) - Austin senior Logan Kelly has committed to swim collegiately at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
Kelly swam at a meet at IUPUI four years ago, which had a strong effect on his decision. He says their pool is one of the nicest in the nation and was definitely a factor in his decision, as was the way the team trains.
"The U of M, they like to do a bunch of distance and stuff and get your endurance way up and they are more sprinting-based which is what I like to do," Kelly said.
Kelly has been aiming for a chance to swim at the Division I level for years, and says it is a relief to be committed and have a chance to swim after high school. He adds that he's excited to see how he progresses at the college level.
"Usually I only get to race other people like that at high school state and other long course meets, and even at the high school state there's only like two other guys that I can really race against. So I'm really excited to have an entire pool full of people that I can race off of and push myself with," Kelly said.
