(ABC 6 News) -- The Mower County Sheriff's Office says a woman has died after being hit by a vehicle in Austin Saturday night. Another victim, a young female, was seriously injured. Both were apparently struck by an SUV on Saturday night.

Mower County authorities say emergency crews responded to a report of a vehicle hitting two people on County Rd. 46 (220th St.) East of 28th St.  NE in Austin around 7:40 p.m. Saturday. When responders arrived at the scene, authorities say they a woman and young female were seen laying on the ground. The SUV that struck them, a 2003 Chevy Tahoe, was parked in the north ditch of County Rd. 46. 

Authorities say the driver of the Tahoe was not injured in the crash.  

Both female victims were brought to the Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin with life-threatening injuries.  

The adult female, 24-year-old Mikayla Ann Sherman of Austin, MN later died in the hospital. There is no condition update for the Juvenile female at the time of this release.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Austin Police, Mower County Sheriff’s Deputies, MN State Patrol, Austin Fire Dept., Mayo Clinic Ambulance responded to this incident.
