(ABC 6 News) - A three-vehicle crash sent two people to the hospital in Austin Thursday evening.

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to a three-vehicle crash that occurred at Interstate 90 and Highway 218 in Austin around 7 p.m. Thursday.

The three vehicles were traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 when a Toyota Corolla, driven by 46-year-old Genet Teketel of Austin, was attempting to merge into the right lane from the acceleration/deceleration lane next to a Dodge Ram. The Dodge Ram, driven by 50-year-old Ramon Arturo Moya of Edinburg, TX, braked to avoid a collision. Following Moya, and braking to avoid the collision, a 2007 Peterbilt semi, driven by 60-year-old Danny Ralph Hoffman Worland, WY, rear-ended Dodge Ram.

The crash left a 13-year-old female of Edinburg, TX with life-threatening injuries and she was taken to St Marys Hospital in Rochester and an 11-year-old male from Edinburg, TX with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin.

The road conditions were dry and the Minnesota State Patrol was assisted by Mayo Ambulance, Austin Fire Department, and the Mower County Sheriffs Office.
