(ABC 6 News) -- A chilling performance by the Austin Packer Dance Team energized fans inside the Target Center on Saturday night.
The team placed third in the high kick competition of the Class AA Minnesota State High School League Dance Team Tournament.
"It's a crazy feeling when you work so hard for something for four months and then you get it and it's just done," said varsity head coach Kayla Sellers.
"It's a feeling that I'll never forget," said senior Salma Masood.
Kick after kick, the Packers won judges over wearing uniforms that resemble clowns but perfecting the routine wasn't easy.
"Even when you can't feel your legs, you still have to whip them up," said senior Kaitlyn Goligowski.
Controlling the nerves were also a challenge.
"You can't really see anybody, you can only hear the music, and it's just basically you and the floor," Goligowski said.
"It's harder as a coach because you have the same adrenaline and the same anticipation but you can't go out there and do it. You have to just sit and watch," Sellers said.
But nothing else gives them a boost like roars from the crowd.
"Knowing how proud they are of you makes it all worth it," said senior Ellie Eyre.
An injury kept Eyre off-court all season so she cheered her heart out to keep the team spirit alive.
"The support you get from other people is how you keep going and I knew that they were going to need me to get where they wanted to," Eyre said.
And while seniors will soon say their farewells, they leave behind an unstoppable sisterhood.
"It has definitely made us into the people that we are," Eyre said. "I know that we will be friends forever."
The Packer dance team last earned a medal in 2006 when Coach Sellers was a junior on the team.
This year marked the team's 18th consecutive year competing at the state level.
