(ABC 6 NEWS) - Get your leashes ready! There is a new show debuting Tuesday night on ABC 6 and one local man and his mom are competing on the show.
There are some major trans-fur-mations that you can see on the new show, 'Pooch Perfect'. It will showcase 10 of the best pet stylists in the country who will compete for the cash grand prize and a Pooch Perfect trophy. Jordan Jones who is a groomer at Pet Supplies Plus in Austin is competing alongside his mom, Deb Compton as her assistant on the show. Compton is based out of Madison, Wisconsin, and also works for Pet Supplies Plus. She has won many awards for her grooming talent.
"I have an art background and I love animals, so it was like a marriage, And then he was born into it and he started to take an interest," said Compton.
Compton was contacted by Pooch Perfect for her paw-some creations and the two decided to throw the show a bone. Originally the show was supposed to begin filming last year, but things were delayed till this January.
"They got our plane tickets, we flew out, filmed the show, went home and it was awesome," said Jones.
In the show, they make a simple groom into anything from a monkey on a dog's back to making the dog look like a completely different animal.
"To see my skills recognized on such a platform like international, what a platform," said Compton.
For Jones, he knows how to groom but never worked in creative grooming until the show.
"I didn't actually put color on a dog until I was on the show so that was a little nerve-racking," said Jones.
But anything is paw-sible. Compton and Jones said to expect the unexpected when watching Pooch Perfect. They want people to see how much work goes into this grooming and the relationship you have to build with dogs to do this.
"There's a lot of emotional energy that goes into," said Jones.
