(ABC 6 News) - Police are investigating after six bullet holes were found in an Austin home where children were present early Thursday morning.
According to the Austin Police Department, officers and Mower County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 800 and 900 blocks of 6th Ave. SE around 5 a.m. for a report of shots fired.
Authorities found bullet holes in one home on the 900 block of 6th Ave. SE.
Austin Police Chief David McKichan said there were two adults and two children under the age of 10 inside the home at the time of the reported shooting.
Chief McKichan said six 9mm shell casings were also found in a yard on the 700 block of 8th St. SE.
Authorities said witnesses described seeing two people running through the area and getting into a white or silver SUV at the time of the reported shooting.
Chief McKichan said there are no suspects at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
