(ABC 6 News) - An Austin man is in custody after leading police on a scooter chase.

At 11 p.m. Monday night, an officer with Austin Police Department attempted to stop a man on a small trail scooter who was driving without headlight or taillights in the 900 block of 6th Ave SE. The man tried to get away by driving on a bike trail, through yards, and around construction barricades.


After losing control of the scooter in the mud at a construction zone on 5th St. SW, he fled on foot. There was a brief physical struggle before the man was tased and arrested.

Police found what they suspect to be methamphetamine at the scene along with a small canister of tear gas.

The man has been identified as Joshua Bollinger 42-years-old of Austin. He was also processed for a suspected DWI.

Bollinger is currently being held in the Mower County Jail. Charges are pending a review by the Mower County Attorney’s Office.
