Austin High School holds a virtual graduation ceremony and parade for Class of 2020

(ABC 6 News) -- On Friday, Austin High School's Class of 2020 graduated in a very different way.

A virtual graduation ceremony was held and went live on YouTube and the district's website on Friday afternoon. It was followed by a parade and diploma presentation on the east side of Austin High School.

The virtual ceremony included commencement speakers, presentation of distinguished graduates, presentation, and acceptance of the senior class, and graduate recognition.

The Presentation of Diplomas ceremony include a graduate parade, the playing of Pomp and Circumstance, recognition of each graduate, a candid photo of each student graduating, and the actual presentation of diplomas.

High school seniors wore their cap and gown and were encouraged to decorate their vehicles. Only one vehicle was allowed per family and all members of each family were told to stay inside their vehicles.
