(ABC 6 News) -- In Austin, new rules have been created to increase flexibility for outdoor seating.
The Austin City Council unanimously agreed to the changes during a special council meeting on Monday.
El Patron Restaurant doesn't have an outdoor dining space, but will be able to set up tables outside their doors in a portion of the parking lot.
"We had to talk to city hall and to the landlord that owns all the super centers to see if they would allow us to use the sidewalk or the walkway that we have here," said Zachary Angel, an employee at El Patron.
The city is also offering to temporarily donate any picnic tables they have for local businesses to borrow.
