Heavy rain, thunderstorms moving through the state Wednesday

The Twin Cities were hit with heavy rain Wednesday morning, which was expected to continue into the afternoon.

Chief Morning Meteorologist Ken Barlow advised drivers to watch out for standing water on the roads.

Barlow also said on-and-off wet weather will continue Wednesday night and most of Thursday before drier air rushes into the Twin Cities on Friday.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service stated a strong thunderstorm will affect southeastern Goodhue, western Pepin and southeastern Pierce counties. The NWS stated the storm contained winds in excess of 30 miles per hour as well as nickel-size hail.
