Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease, Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, "I think this week will be a clarifying week in the sense of what this is all about," regarding booster shots for COVID-19.
"The [U.S. Food and Drug Administration] will likely, within the next 24 to 48 hours, make its decision and make it public about its approval for booster shots for Moderna and the Johnson & Johnson vaccines," Osterholm said.
Approval has already been given for Pfizer booster shots.
There should also be some type of announcement regarding the so-called mixing and matching of booster shots, which is simply different combinations of the vaccines used for booster purposes.
Osterholm also told KSTP that he expects approval in the near future for a vaccine that can be used by children between the ages of 5 and 11.
