The University of Minnesota football team ranked 10th in the Associated Press' final poll of the season.
The "AP Top 25 Poll" started in 1936 and is now considered one of the longest-running polls that award national titles at the end of the season. According to the Associated Press, a panel of 62 sports writers and broadcasters from around the United States vote on the poll weekly.
Finishing 10th on the list was the highest ranking for the Gophers since it ranked 10th at the end of the 1962 season, according to U of M officials.
The Gophers had an 11-2 record this season. The team's 11 wins were a first since 1904 and the team also won seven Big Ten games this season for the first time in the team's history.
LSU, Clemson and Ohio State ranked first, second and third on the list, respectively.
The Gophers will play Florida Atlantic for the start of the 2020 season on Sept. 3.
