The Minnesota Historical Society reports a sign at Fort Snelling was recently vandalized.
A MHS spokesperson said the vandals covered up the words "at Bdote" with matching blue ink. But the MHS said the sign has since been cleaned up and is back to normal.
New signs at the fort, which is located in an area known as Bdote by the Dakota people, were recently the source of controversy. While the old signs simply read "Fort Snelling Historic Site," newer signs now read "Historic Fort Snelling at Bdote," - a Dakota word meaning where two waters meet.
In this case, the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers.
That led one lawmaker to accuse the MHS of engaging in "revisionist" history.
