The temperature is dropping, but road construction crews are still busy working on a number of projects around the metro.
Interstate 35W is scheduled to shut down in both directions in south Minneapolis from I-94 to Highway 62, starting at 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
Traffic will be allowed through on the southbound side from 46th Street to Highway 62. A long detour will be in place along I-94, I-394, Highway 100, and Highway 62.
The 28th Street Bridge will be demolished this weekend and the bridge was expected to close Friday morning.
Next weekend, crews will be completing some underground utility work which will require an additional closure along I-35W between I-94 and Highway 62.
Meanwhile, Highway 97 will stay open over I-35 this weekend after all. MnDOT was planning to remove the bridge and restrict traffic on I-35 in the Columbus/Forest Lake Area. The work has been rescheduled for next weekend, November 16-19. Learn more about the project.
