(ABC 6 News) — Despite the MSHSL voting no to sanctioning boys volleyball, that wasn’t going to bring down the crowd at Mayo High School.
Fans gathered as the Spartans and Kasson-Mantorville KoMets took the court for a promising match on Wednesday. Mayo was aiming to stay undefeated while K-M was searching for its first win of the season.
The KoMets had their early moments and kept up with the Spartans during the opening set at times. However, the Spartans pulled away thanks to plays from Isaiah Hanson and Jaxon Lester. Hanson set up his teammate for an excellent spike as Mayo would take the first set and the next two for the sweep.
Mayo hosts Austin next on May 16th. Kasson-Mantorville faces Rochester Area at home on the 16th as well.
