(ABC 6 News) — Mother Nature once again reared its ugly head — as the wind advisory and sleet caused several postponements for local high school sports.
One game that was supposed to take place Thursday was the baseball crosstown rivalry game pitting Mayo against Century.
Yesterday, the Spartans got a light practice indoors as they worked to fine-tune their fielding and get some good swings in the batting cage. The matchup against Century will have a little extra sauce on it as Mayo eliminated the Panthers from the section tournament last season.
"Crosstown you wanna compete," Spartan senior Kyle Prindle said. "It’s fun playing them, playing [John Marshall], those kinds of teams are always fun to play just because you get that extra competitiveness to kind of be the king of the city, per se."
Weather permitting — the "King of the City" matchup should take place Friday afternoon at 5 pm at Mayo Field.
