Jae Havoc, Cole Allen, FenixDion to open Down By the Riverside summer concerts
(ABC 6 News) – Rochester hip-hop artist Jae Havoc, blues-rock singer Cole Allen, and rock band 9th Planet are among this year’s Down By the Riverside opening acts, Rochester Civic Music announced Monday.
Havoc will open for Minneapolis rapper Nur-D during the first concert July 10.
Austin alt-country band Whalen and the Willows will open for Brittney Spender on July 17. Winona-based singer Mike Munson and percussionist Mikkel Beckmen will open for Mavis Staples July 24.
Allen will open for John Waite July 21, while Minneapolis duo FenixDion open for En Vogue Aug. 7.
The free summer concert series ends Aug. 14, with Rochester rock band 9th Planet opening for Jason Bonham’s Led Zepplin Evening.
The series takes place over six Sundays in July and August (July 10 through August 14) in Mayo Park along the banks of the Zumbro River. This is an open-to-the-public City park, so lawn chairs, blankets, and coolers are welcome. On-site concessions, including mobile food vendors, will also be available.
All concerts feature Minnesota bands as opening acts starting at 7:00 p.m., with headliners taking the stage at 8:00 p.m.
