Minneapolis native and former Minnehaha Academy star Chet Holmgren made history Thursday night when he was selected in the 2022 NBA draft.
Holmgren, who starred at Gonzaga this past year, was chosen No. 2 overall Thursday by the Oklahoma City Thunder, making him the highest-selected Twin Cities native in the NBA draft ever.
The 20-year-old is a 7-foot unicorn on the basketball court who averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 3.7 blocks per game in his lone collegiate season. He declared his intention to enter the 2022 NBA draft on April 21.
