2021 Lourdes High School graduate gets perfect score on ACT, receives full ride to college

(ABC 6 NEWS) – A 2021 Lourdes High School graduate achieved a perfect score on the ACT and will now receive a full ride at the University of Alabama.

Thomas York who is a 2021 graduate of Lourdes High School got a 36 on his ACT. With that perfect score, he received a full ride to college with a Presidential Scholarship.

York is one of 40 incoming freshmen at the University of Alabama to be selected for the Randall Research Scholars Program.

Some of York’s accomplishments leading up to college include:
-National Merit Scholarship
-Sixteenth place at 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee
-2017 Southeast Minnesota Regional Spelling Bee Champion
-John Mason Award for Male Scholar Athlete at Lourdes High School
-MSHSL Certificate of Recognition for Academics, Arts & Athletics
Varsity Letters in:
-Football – four
-Hockey – three
-Baseball – two
-Choir – two

Fewer than one percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score, according to the ACT.
