(ABC 6 News) - The Albert Lea Police Department said two teenagers were taken into custody Sunday morning in connection to several thefts throughout the area.

The ALPD was called to a home near Glenn Road for suspected suspicious behavior. The caller told officers there were footprints in the fresh snow near a garage.

Police said the investigation led to an officer noticing similar footprints near a Minnesota Ave home. This lead to the arrest of two male teenagers, a 14 and 16-year-old. The ALPD said the 16-year-old had ten outstanding warrants spanning from 2016-2020.

The two teens are suspected to be involved in a number of thefts in Albert Lea. The ALPD said the majority of the thefts were crimes of opportunity where the victims' property was not secured.
