(ABC 6 News) - What started as a Facebook post turned into an outpour of support.
"It was such an amazing experience for me that that took away a lot of the heaviness in my heart," said Sara Barnes of Albert Lea.
Barnes and Andrea Reimann are among those who want change. Together they organized donations including food, money, and hygiene items like diapers to Sanford Middle School in Minneapolis.
"What's the one thing that I can do to make something a little better?" Barnes said.
Both women said they didn't expect the number of people who dropped off donations at a parking lot in town Saturday. They brought two full carloads of items to the city.
"I think that eventually with enough people backing... the movement that people are going to change eventually," Riemann said.
Their help much needed at a time when the country grieves. Both women want to pass on this act of kindness to their kids.
"I thought it was really crazy how everyone got together to help each other. I thought it was really just cool to see," said Regina Riemann, Andrea's daughter.
She and Hailey Barnes, Sara's daughter, got to bring the donated items from Albert Lea to Minneapolis as well.
