Firefighters battled house fire in Freeborn County Thursday

(ABC 6 News) – Multiple emergency crews responded to a house fire in Freeborn County on Thursday.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office stated at about 4 p.m., crews responded to the 22000 block of 700th Avenue for an attic fire.

When crews arrived on the scene, heavy smoke and flames could be seen on the side of the home. Residents were able to evacuate the home safely.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The State Fire Marshal’s Office will be assisting in the investigation.

Agencies assisting with the call were the Albert Lea, Alden, Manchester, and Conger Fire Departments, along with the Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
