Century's Fisher, Supalla make college football choices

January 22, 2017 06:15 PM

(ABC 6 News) - The Century Panthers football team was points away from reaching the Section 1AAAAA championship game this past fall, so when a team goes that far, there's likely some top-level talent within the program.

One of those talents, safety and wide receiver Lucas Fisher, announced on Twitter on Sunday he has committed to play football at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota. A captain last year, Fisher was a standout both on offense and defense before his season ended due to an illness.

Fisher said his decision to continue his football career at Division II Southwest Minnesota State was that he "liked the campus, the academics, and the family-like atmosphere" which the school presents.

Fisher's teammate Gabe Supalla, who had a pair of shining performances in this past year's Section playoffs against Rochester Mayo and Northfield, will also continue playing football beyond high school. Supalla announced he will stay put in Rochester and play junior college football at Rochester Community & Technical College.
