Bulls Top Short-Handed Ice Hawks on New Year’s Eve, 11-3

(ABC 6 News) – In their first home game in 22 days, the North Iowa Bulls topped the home-team Rochester Ice Hawks on New Year’s Eve, 11-3.

The Ice Hawks, who are 0-7 since Chris Blaisuis took over as head coach, only had 12 players suited up on Sunday night against the first-place Bulls—North Iowa had 20 players dressed to play.

In the win, 14 different players recorded at least one point and three players (Brendan Studioso, David Dolter, Shane Bernhardson) scored two goals.

Ice Hawks Goalie Luke Murphy saved 77 of 88 shots on net. Skaters Vinny Billing (1 goal, 1 assist), Lake Powell (2 assists), Evan Burke (2 assists), and Josh Hoffman (2 goals, 1 assist) racked up points for Rochester.

The Ice Hawks return to the ice Friday versus the Wisconsin Whalers.
