(ABC 6 News)- The Caledonia Warriors Football team is heading back to state for the second year in a row, but if it wasn’t for senior linebacker and wide receiver, Jordan Burg, the team might have been watching the playoffs from afar.

“Jordan is an all-around player, he does it in all three phases of the game,” Head Coach Carl Fruechte said.  “He’s a real special player and we’re glad to have him.  He’s big, he’s tall, he’s very athletic, he has very good hands, good instinct, and he just knows the game really well.”

Coach Fruechte says that Burg is the type of player that brings the Warriors to a new level.

“That’s what he did Friday after halftime, him and the seniors just took over and did the things they were taught and he led it, to be honest with you,” Fruechte said.

In their section championship win over the Triton Cobras, Burg had four tackles, two interceptions, and a block punt for a touchdown.

“I just knew we needed to get it going at half time, we weren't doing the best we could and I just said we need to go make a play and that’s what happened,” Jordan Burg said.

Burg’s performance isn’t a one-man job thought, it’s a group effort.

“We have a great team, great coaching staff, and the coaches put us in the best spot to be successful,” Burg said.

Burg has proven that multiple times.  He has totaled 630 receiving yards, nine touchdowns, and 26 solo tackles.

Burg and the Warriors return to the gridiron on Friday in the State quarterfinals against Minneapolis North.  Kickoff is set for 7p.m. at Burnsville High School.
