Voters rejected a request to increase the Triton Public School District operating levy by just under $1 million.

Here are the results:

Yes: 455 (49%)

No: 479 (51%)

Total: 934

If approved, the referendum would have added an extra $750 per student to the general education fund.

ABC 6 News talked with Supt. Brett Joyce right after the votes were counted about what comes next.

"These will be tough decisions, this will be program and unfortunately staff because that's all that's really left. Unfortunately that's what the board will have to meet and discuss and try to set some goals and targets of what they want to do to reduce," Supt. Joyce said.

Joyce said the district is not giving up and will return with another referendum request.
