Heading Into Office, Lacking Experience

(ABC 6 NEWS) – Donald Trump won the presidential election without any background in politics.

In Minnesota House District 25B, a candidate with no political background also won his race.

“I think it’s a balance because some people come with no background in politics but have great skill that they bring to that office,” said DFL Representative-Elect Duane Sauke.

Sauke has a background in education and real estate. He says the legislature needs representatives from all different backgrounds.

“I think there is that mix of people up there and we bring probably a voice that’s disconnected from the politics of getting things done,” added Sauke.

Republican Fran Bradley ran against Sauke. Bradley had more than a decade of political experience, however he lost.

“I think you have to look at every race individually and the race I was involved has that kind of individual characteristics,” said Bradley. “Every example of a new face really being elected there’s many more examples of people with experience.”

We also asked both candidates about president elect Donald Trump having no political experience.

“There are a lot of people fed up with Washington D.C. and it seems they are fed up with the establishment, with the lack of progress,” said Bradley.

“The fact that he’s a businessman, the fact that he’s had no past political experience in some ways is only a part of what he’s in total,” added Sauke.
