Totally different than the long drawn out storm over the weekend. A mix early Wednesday morning quickly turns to snow. From mid morning through the evening drive, we'll expect an intense band of heavy snow cut across the region. At times I expect 1" to 1.25" per hour rates which will greatly hinder the drive times. Don't be caught offguard. It's the sudden bursts of heavy snow when people aren't expecting it at key times, like rush hour that cause the most accidents.
In total. 4-8" is possible across the region. The MN/IA border looks to be the axis for heaviest snow with this one.
Due to some uncertainty to where the this heaviest snow band ends up, we've opened with a 'wide net'. As we hone in on the target, expect the edges to narrow, or squeeze in. Stay tuned as this forecast is refined in the coming 36 hours.
