(ABC 6 NEWS) - We've learned time and time again that during difficult times, there are people who are willing to make the lives of others better.  From hurricane Harvey to helping neighbors on an even small scale.

Garret Goodwin is a man dedicates his life to helping others especially our military men and women.  As a first responder more than 15 years ago, he was one of the first people to respond at the pentagon and ground zero after the 9/11 attacks.

Since then he has had numerous health concerns that have forced him to seek medical treatment at mayo clinic.

Since then -- he has started a foundation dedicated to helping those veterans and first responders.
