Traffic Stop Leads to High-Speed Chase, Say Albert Lea Police

(ABC 6 News) - In Albert Lea, what started as a traffic stop, turned into a high-speed chase Friday morning. 

An officer with the Albert Lea Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop Friday morning just before 1 a.m.  The traffic stop, at 9th Street and Lincoln Avenue, turned into a pursuit, say officials.

The chase was contained to Freeborn County.  The driver led police approximately 47 miles and, at times, reached speeds of up to 115 mph, according to Albert Lea Police. 

Officers deployed stop sticks at State Line Road.  This ended the pursuit.  30-year-old William Michael Oleson was taken into custody and transported to the Freeborn County Jail, according to police.

Oleson is now facing multiple charges including Fleeing Police and Driving after Cancellation.
