(ABC 6 News) -- Gubernatorial candidate Tim Walz has chosen Minnesota native and current state representative Peggy Flanagan as his running mate.
Flanagan is a lifelong resident of St. Louis Park in the Twin Cities metro and has been representing District 46A since 2015. Flanagan is also a University of Minnesota graduate.
If elected, Flanagan would be the first person of color to hold a constitutional office in Minnesota and the highest ranking Native American state-level officeholder in U.S. history.
Walz and Flanagan will kick off their campaign locally Saturday, October 7th at 12:15 p.m. at Bleu Duck Kitchen in Rochester.
