Three Rochester Parks in Running for New Basketball Court

August 05, 2017 11:08 PM

(ABC 6 News) -- One Rochester park will soon be the home of a new basketball court thanks to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Three city parks, including Kutzky, East, and Friendship, are competing for votes in the Timberwolves' New Era, New Courts program, with the winning park receiving a renovated basketball court.

Kutzky Park Neighborhood Association president Jesse Welsh said she hopes her neighborhood's park gets the most votes, as it would provide space not only for basketball but also Zumba and yoga classes.

"We do have some really good courts in the community, but we don’t have one on this side of town," she said. "We have great tennis courts here, which are being redone, we’d love to have a new basketball court to match those efforts."

One park in Moorhead and the Twin Cities will also be chosen.

Voting ends Sunday. If you'd like to vote for your favorite park, you can do so on the Timberwolves' website:
