Get ready to crank up the thermostat. Our first taste of summer-like heat and humidity looks to round out the month of May. One last day of 70s is set before a big jump up into the 80s.
It comes at a cost of a daily (and in many cases, nightly) chance for rain from Wednesday through Saturday. A mass of showers and storms arrives tonight, after 3am and spreads across the region, making an impact out the door on Wednesday. After some breaks, expect redevelopment late on Wednesday into the overnight. Thursday is where the temperatures take there jump and we'll get a mainly dry day to build up that heat. It's not until late that the rain returns.
Severe chances look to be low as the ingredients to create those robust storms are just lacking. There'll be plenty of heavy rainfall in the stretch, thunder and lightning too. But signals for significant wind/hail/tornadoes are not there.
Daily temperatures from Thursday all the way through Memorial day will constantly be pegging middle to upper 80s. With an uptick in the humidity levels through Friday, numbers will relax slightly through the rest of the holiday weekend, meaning, Thursday and Friday will feel like the warmest.
