Border to Border at 65: Local Farmer Runs Across the State

(ABC 6 News) – Age is nothing but a number for Stewartville farmer Reggie Oeltjen.

Oeltjen is running 285 miles throughout the entire state of Minnesota for his 65th birthday.

Starting Saturday, Oeltjen and his daughter will run 15 miles per day, starting near the South Dakota border. Along the way, they plan to stop in Byron for the Med City Marathon.

When he was asked why he was doing his run, Oeltjen pulled a Forrest Gump – he just wants to do it.

"When I turned 65, I thought it would be something different to do that I haven't seen anyone else do,” said Oeltjen.
