RPD: "Prolific Offender" Arrested in Rochester

(ABC 6 News) -- A second person in connection to a recent search of a Rochester apartment, where drugs and a handgun were discovered, was arrested Monday.

Around 10:30 p.m. on November 20, Rochester Police received a call about a possible drug deal happening in the Silver Lake Center parking lot, located on the 1400 block of North Broadway.

Once in the parking lot, Captain John Sherwin said officers arrested 26-year-old Edward Gildersleve of Rochester after they found 73 Tramadol pills on him.  Tramadol is an opioid pain medication used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain.  Gildersleve is facing a charge of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Captain Sherwin referred to Gildersleve as a “violent person” and “prolific offender”, and said officers had been searching for him following a recent search of his home.  Captain Sherwin said officers were looking for evidence in connection to a shooting when they found cocaine and a handgun in the home.

A 24-year-old man, who lived with Gildersleve was arrested following the search.  Police had probable cause to arrest Gildersleve on a second-degree controlled substance charge following the cocaine discovery.
