Facelift Proposed for Olmsted County Fairgrounds, Chester Woods Trail

(ABC 6 News) – Graham Park and the Olmsted County Fairgrounds could look very different in the next few years.

A renovation is being planned that would include completely redoing two arena buildings and the layout of the grounds.

Monday, some ideas were shared at Rochester's Committee of the Whole meeting. Workers said they want to make the area more accessible.

“Everything's in the preliminary concepts right now,” Graham site manager Steven Flint said. “We're hoping to go out for the master planning there soon, and that will help put the conceptual design together for reconfiguring Grahams one and two, and also the festival park and how we lay that out."

Flint said they put in a state bonding request for $10 million to pay for remodeling.

The council also heard two proposals to renovate and extend the Chester Woods Trail.  One option explores more wooded trail and another is a roadside path.

Both plans need specific route details worked out.

The estimated cost is projected to be somewhere between $1.4 million and $1.9 million.
