(ABC 6 News) -- A Rochester teenager was arrested after police say he punched an officer in the face Monday morning. 

According to Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin, the school liaison officer at Phoenix Academy approached a 17-year-old student who had an apprehension order for a probation violation. The school had contacted police, concerned about the student's behavior. The teen allegedly pushed the school principal.

The teenager allegedly began fighting with the officer and punched the officer in the face, knocking his glasses and radio off leaving him unable to call for help. 

The officer tased the teenager and eventually arrested him. 

The teenager was taken to the juvenile detention center and is facing charges of 4th-degree assault, obstruction of justice with force, and a probation violation.
