(ABC 6 News) -- Just before 9 Saturday night, a Rochester Police officer was working as part of the state's Toward Zero Death campaign extra enforcement period.

The officer saw an alleged speeding vehicle on the 600 block of Elton Hills Dr. NW. The officer pulled the vehicle over, but while the officer was walking up to the vehicle, it sped off.

The officer briefly chased the vehicle, before losing sight of it on Elton Hills Drive, right before West River Parkway.

Just a few minutes later, police got a call of a crash on 14th Street and Silver Lake Drive. A car had apparently hit a fire hydrant. Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin said the car in the crash was the same car that fled from the officer.

Capt. Sherwin said no one was in the vehicle, but officers did find a cell phone, a wallet and a baggie of marijuana.

Not too far away, an Olmsted County Sheriff Deputy saw someone running in the area. When deputies and officers responded they heard, "I'm up here. I give up." The teen who had allegedly been driving the car was on the roof of a house. He got off the roof and was arrested.

Capt. Sherwin identified the driver as 18-year-old Wyatt Page of Rochester. He is facing charges of fleeing police in a motor vehicle, fleeing on foot, and hit and run.
