(ABC 6 News) -- Rochester police have made an arrest in connection to a violent robbery at Gamestop in northwest Rochester Monday.

According to Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin, police got a tip call around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. After getting the tip, officers went to the home of a potential suspect at 920 40th St. NW, which is the Gage East Apartment complex.

Capt. Sherwin said 18-year-old Jacob Meier was inside the apartment when police got there and was actually playing on an X-Box One that had been stolen in the robbery. He also matched the description of one of the suspects. He was arrested.

Police say after interviewing Meier, he indicated he was involved and police believe he is the one who hit an employee in the head with a hammer.

Capt. Sherwin said they've had run-ins with Meier in the past when he was a minor.

Meier could potentially face charges of 1st-degree aggravated robbery, 1st-degree assault and possibly even attempted murder.

As for the victim, Capt. Sherwin said officers had the chance to talk to him on Wednesday. He was apparently in good spirits and even joking around with some of his GameStop coworkers.

Capt. Sherwin also commended GameStop for their concern for employee safety. Capt. Sherwin said the head of security for the company flew to Rochester from Arizona after hearing about this incident. Also, Capt. Sherwin said he has never seen a business offer a reward in a robbery case like this.

As we reported, GameStop offered $5,000 to a tip leading to the arrest of the suspects. No word yet on whether or not the person who made this tip call will receive the reward.
