(ABC 6 News) -- Rochester police were called to the Extended Stay Hotel on the 2800 block of 43 St. NW for reports of a fight around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 11.

According to Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin, there was a party going on in a hotel room. Several people left the party to go to Kwik Trip. Some of the people who went along knew each other, others didn't. Apparently, on the way back to the hotel, one man in the vehicle began acting irrational and was insulting people.

When the group got back to the hotel, the man allegedly started a fight with the person who had driven the vehicle to Kwik Trip. The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened to stab the victim. He then allegedly threw the knife into a snowbank and started fighting with the victim using his fists.

Someone called the police and the suspect was gone by the time they got there. He was eventually found on the West Frontage Road near Sprint and was arrested.

Capt. Sherwin identified the suspect as 24-year-old Julio Mendez from Austin.
