(ABC 6 News) -- Rochester police were called to an apartment on the 1000 block of 41 St. NW just before 5 p.m. on Friday, December 29.

According to Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin, a church pastor lives in the home. The pastor told police he was home alone when he heard his dog start barking loudly. The pastor went to the front room and saw two men in his home. He said the two men came after him, punching him in the face and beating him with a 'stick-like' object.

The men allegedly called the pastor a "lousy Christian" before leaving. The pastor also believes they might have kicked his dog as they left.

Capt. Sherwin said the pastor had bruising all over his body. He was checked out by first responders but did not go to the hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
