(ABC 6 News) -- On Friday, October 13th, the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office got a tip call from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, or ICAC. The task force said they had information about child pornography being downloaded and shared on Twitter by 22-year-old William Doherty of Rochester.
According to Olmsted County Sheriff Captain Scott Behrns, Doherty happened to have a probation hearing on Monday, October 16th. The sheriff's office met with Doherty at the government center when he was there for his hearing. Capt. Behrns said that Doherty admitted to downloading and viewing child pornography.
The sheriff's office searched Doherty's home on the 200 block of 19th Ave SW in Rochester. Capt. Behrns said deputies seized more than a thousand images of child pornography. They also seized multiple devices including cell phones and an ipod.
Doherty is now facing charges of disseminating pornographic work by a registered predatory offender, and possession of child pornography by a registered predatory offender.
According to court documents, Doherty was convicted of similar charges in 2013 and Capt. Behrns said Doherty had a probation violation for the same thing in 2016.
