Boys and Girls Club Put into Lockdown During Traffic Stop

(ACB 6 News) -- Around 3 Friday afternoon, a Rochester Police officer was patrolling in the area of 11th Ave SE. The officer was driving a squad car equipped with a license plate reader. The reader detected a vehicle that had been stolen out of Chicago. 

The officer stopped the vehicle in front of the Boys and Girls Club. Because it was a stolen vehicle, officers conducted a "high risk" traffic stop, meaning they had their guns drawn as a precaution. Because of this, the Boys and Girls Club was put into a lockdown briefly.

According to Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin, 25-year-old Jasmine Morris of Michigan City, Indiana was driving the vehicle. She allegedly had seven grams of cocaine in the vehicle that were separated into 16 individual packages, as well as less than a gram of heroin. 

Morris was arrested and is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, 3rd-degree sales of a controlled substance, and 5th-degree possession of a controlled substance.
