(ABC 6 News) -- After several months of discussion, the Rochester City Council has unanimously voted to allow ride-hailing services such as Uber and Lyft.

The Transportation Network Companies ordinance was passed at Wednesday night's city council meeting.  Companies will be able to start operating after applying for a license, which they can do as soon as the city publishes the ordinance.

City councilmembers talked about a variety of other issues as well, including an early demolition agreement for the Rosie Bell building at the corner of 4th St. and Broadway Ave. The food truck ordinance is also moving forward, with the approval of an amendment allowing a greater area within downtown where those trucks can operate.
