According to a press release from the district, the threat was reported to the school by students and the district immediately contacted the Sheriff's office for investigation.

"If you don't look into it and something happens then it's kind of a big deal and people would feel guilty because they didn't do nothing about it," said student Carson Hale.

The alleged suspect has been identified but an investigation is still ongoing.

"I was just kind of a little shocked. I had a lot of thoughts running through my head...I didn't know anything that was going on," said student Hunter Geerts.

The Howard County Attorney, US Attorney General, and the FBI are involved in the investigation.

The district said, "We are thankful to the students that reported this to school officials and it is important to discuss with your children and students that it is not appropriate, nor acceptable, to make threats, joke about, or make light of school shootings."
