(ABC 6 News) - UPDATE: Austin Fire Chief Jim McCoy said the house fire appears to have been started by a child playing with a lighter.
McCoy said the bean bag style chair filled with foam blocks was lit on fire. The chair's contents causing a majority of the smoke.
The damage is estimated to be around $15,000.
The Austin Police Department said a house fire over the weekend may have started in a bean bag chair.
Police said officers were called to a home on the 500 block of 3rd Ave. SE just before 7 p.m. Sunday.
A resident of the home that smoke was coming from a bean bag chair in a bedroom.
Occupants of the house had already evacuated when police and firefighters arrived.
No one was hurt and the cause of the fire and extent of the damage is unknown at this time.
On Sunday, the American Red Cross in Austin released information regarding volunteers helping three adults and two children who were displaced following a single family home fire in the 500 block of 3rd Avenue SE in Austin.
ABC 6 News spoke with the Austin Fire Department Sunday night and they said they will release more information on Monday.
