(ABC 6 News) -- A Rochester man was taken into custody after allegedly fleeing police and deputies in Olmsted County.

Just after midnight Wednesday, February 7, Rochester Police attempted to pull over a vehicle for allegedly speeding near 3rd Ave. and 4th St. in SE Rochester. According to Captain John Sherwin, the driver did not stop and the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office continued the pursuit on the 3200 block of County Road 9.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain, Scott Behrns said the driver lost control, went into the ditch and took off running. Deputies followed the suspect's track into a cornfield. The suspect eventually tired, said Captain Behrns, and was taken into custody.

The suspect, 35-year-old Jeremy Wilburn, told authorities he knew he had a warrant out for his arrest for felony financial transaction card fraud. Captain Behrns added that Wilburn threatened authorities at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center when they told him they could seize his car.   Captain Behrns said Wilburn told them, “I’m going to steal stuff out of your cars.”
