(ABC 6 News) -- A woman, who was arrested after an alleged road rage incident in Rochester over the weekend, tells ABC 6 News she was not the aggressor.

Police say Shamaine Branch was arrested Saturday after the incident on 37th Street NE. Officers said multiple witnesses saw two cars driving aggressively. When the cars got to the stoplight at East River Road, police said one woman got out of her car and pulled the other woman out where they began fighting.

Branch says the other driver was following her, didn't like the way she was driving and eventually pulled up next to her. Branch says the woman then rolled down her window and said, "Learn how to drive you f@*^ing n#$%%^r."  Branch says at that point, she got out and kicked the other driver's vehicle twice.

Police said eventually Branch got back into her car and tried to drive away, but hit the other woman, who was standing in front of her car at that point.

Branch denies hitting the other woman with the car and calls the incident a case of "race fueled road rage."

Branch was released from the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center today on her own recognizance. According to the Olmsted County Attorney's Office, the case has been referred to the City Attorney. A message left with the City Attorney's Office was not immediately returned.
