(ABC 6 News) – Authorities were led on a chase involving an 11-year-old boy driving a cement truck that began in Dodge Center around 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

The truck was stolen from a contractor in Dodge Center, and driven to Highway 14 towards Byron.

According to Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose, a helicopter was used to find the vehicle once it re-entered Dodge Center.

“Once it got into town, we backed off and had the State Patrol helicopter follow the vehicle so we could safely follow the vehicle,” said Rose.

After chasing the cement truck for more than an hour,  it ended up in a dead end on 7th Avenue SE and 5th Street SE in Dodge Center.

The boy is in custody and will be taken to the Rochester Juvenile Detention Center.

Authorities say two vehicles, one belonging to the State Patrol and the other belonging to the Kasson Police Department, were damaged in the chase. No one was injured.
