May 12, 2017 03:23 PM

(ABC 6 News) -- Our latest ABC 6 News – Home Federal Bank Pay it Forward winner has been giving back to the community for more than a decade and has no plan to stop.

"He's very willing to help and he's happy to help and you don't always run across that,” says Brian Hale with Bear Creek Services.

Brian is talking about Ted Alberts, a man who has been volunteering at Bear Creek Services for more than ten years, but also gives back in many other ways.

"A lot of off hours from work I do volunteer at a number of different places,” says Ted.

In the last three years, Ted has been volunteering at one of Bear Creek Services group homes, Westchester Manor house. He’s been a one-on-one volunteer with a lady named, Tia.

“Well he's like my uncle; he's always been taking care of me," says Tia Luebbe.

His love for helping others didn’t stop with Tia.

“Essentially what happened is the other three ladies who live at the house have adopted him, so now ted is essentially a volunteer for four adult women who have developmental disabilities, it's a tremendous story," says Brian.

Brian nominated Ted for an ABC 6 News - Home Federal Bank $600 Pay it Forward award because, as Brian says, Ted pays it forward every single day without anything in return.

"I just believe volunteering really builds a community. You need some foundation and you need people to step up and help others that may be in need or just need a friend," says Ted.
